Veneers
Most cosmetic dentistry options are designed to offer a quick way to improve your smile. While these treatments are great for most problems, sometimes simple solutions like teeth whitening and bonding just won’t do the trick. That is why when you need a cosmetic fix that goes a little bit deeper, we recommend porcelain veneers.
What Are Veneers?
Veneers are thin shells of porcelain. This porcelain is specially crafted for each patient to match the natural shape and color of their teeth. Veneers mimic your natural tooth structure, color, and even the way your teeth reflect light! They are designed by using digital imaging technology to ensure they blend in perfectly with the rest of your teeth.
When bonded to the front of your teeth, they can fix nearly any cosmetic issue or blemish. Porcelain veneers can strengthen and beautify your smile in one simple treatment. At Champaign Dental Group, our dentists are proud to provide a high level of technical skill and attention to detail necessary for stunning veneer treatment.
Should I Consider Veneers?
We recommend porcelain veneers for patients who want a beautiful, long-lasting smile makeover. Veneers are durable and provide a sleeker, more natural restoration than dental bonding.
At Champaign Dental Group, we recommend veneers for those who have:
- Excessive tooth wear
- Severe stains
- Internal stains (below the tooth’s surface)
- Large spaces between teeth
- Chipped, cracked, and crooked teeth
- Misshapen teeth
Veneers are the number one way to customize your smile!
The Veneers Procedure at Champaign Dental Group
Veneer treatments typically take two visits over a few weeks. To begin, we will take an impression of your teeth. This will allow us to make a perfect replica of your tooth’s surface. With the help of advanced imaging technology, your veneer will perfectly match the color, size, and shape of your natural teeth.
Next, your dentist will remove a thin layer of your tooth’s enamel to allow your final veneer to bond to your tooth. This will be done during your first visit. After your tooth has been prepared and impressions have been taken, we will create a temporary veneer for you in our in-office dental lab.
Your permanent veneers will be made in a professional dental laboratory. This process usually takes about four weeks.
When your veneers are ready, we will call you to schedule a second appointment. By the end of your visit, you will leave with a bright, beautiful new smile!
How Do I Care for My Veneers?
With proper care, your veneers will be able to last well over a decade. To maintain their appearance and strength, floss and brush your teeth at least twice a day. Avoid hard foods and candies and do not use your veneer as a tool to cut or open things.
Continue to visit your dentist at least every six months to ensure your teeth and gums stay happy and healthy.
